As a teacher Kees Koelmans worked for many years at the conservatories of Zwolle, Groningen, Arnhem and Antwerp, before initiating a violin class at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2000. This turned out to be very successful: many of his pupils have found their path to orchestras and chamber music ensembles at home and abroad or founded successful teaching practices. In 1999, his pupil Lieke te Winkel won the 1st prize at the national Oskar Back violin competition. The Amsterdam violin class collaborates with pianists Jeroen Bal and Jaap Kooi who make an important contribution with their vital artistic support. At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Kees Koelmans also teaches chamber music and early music classes as well as the course ‘Eloquence in Music’, on applying the rules of rhetoric to the musical repertoire.
